The game artwork is by far the best I have very seen and comes from the famous artist Brom. If your intrested in this game please vist the Dark Age site and read the intervie with Cool Mini or not

Questions
1. So I see that dark age has been around for a bit. Is this a new version of the rules or a relaunch of the product?

- It is a new version of the game and a re-launch at the same time. We are re-releasing the miniatures with new rules, we have to give the huge line of over 150 unique SKU’s a little at a time.

2. I see that the Artwork is from Brom and its is amazing can you tell us how that came about

-          The game was based of of the CCG Dark Age: Feudal Lords.  The original game designers felt that the CCG would make a great Table Top Miniatures game.  The majority of Brom art used in the game is licensed by Brom.

3. From information on Dark Ages site it say that there is two books to be released. Are their plans to release any more books after the first two?

-          We are working on a book as we speak, we cannot divulge much of what’s going in the book but prepare to be blown away next year. Each year we are going to have something new to get gamers into the world of Dark Age or deepen their addiction.

4. Before we get into the Mechanics of the game can you give us a little back story on the world of Dark Age?

-  It is based in the far future where mankind has traveled to the stars.  Samaria, where the game takes place, was a world that was not suitable for human colonization, but just right for corporations and world governments to perform their illicit deeds.  Far from the scope of accountability and scrutiny factories of WMDs popped up across the world.  Corporations established factories and scientific laboratories to develop new living bio-weapons and cheap labor was used to create all kinds of tools, robots, weapons without any oversight. After a fashion huge cities and infrastructures were built for the factory workers and their families.  Then the apocalypse happened, the United Worlds, the cement of the human empire in the stars collapsed, being on the outlying fringes of occupied space Samaria lost what little support it had.  Anyone who was anyone or knew anyone got off the planet. Abandoning and stranding thousands of workers and their families.  Over a period of five hundred years the Forsaken as they called themselves degenerated into a feudal system where religion took over as the governing rule.  During this 500 year span the different forces came about, by either being banished, exploring abandoned factories and awakening ancient horrors left unchecked by departing scientists, or discovering aliens that had colonized the planet long before the humans took Samaria for their own.

5. How many Factions are there in Dark Age?

-           Currently there a five basic factions, the Forsaken, religious zealots; the Dragyri, martial aliens that inhabited the planet before the humans came; the Skarrd, cannibalistic cyborg mutants; the Brood, scientific experiments gone horribly wrong; and the Outcasts, Tribes of humans that adapted to living in the wastelands surround the Forsaken cities, anarchist atheists.  Some of the factions can be broken down in to sub-factions to vary up your forces.

-

6. Most war games use a D6 but this game uses D20, can you explain the reason for this and the special law of 1 and 20?

-  When the game was first created it had an rpg feel to it, so a greater range of probabilities was needed to differentiate between leaders, elite troops, and the rabble.  The game was streamlined into less of a rpg game and more into a skirmish system.  The D20 still worked and gave the players a greater range of possibilities. The lower the die roll the better, so depending on what you are rolling for a ‘1’ is good and a ‘20’ is bad.

7. How does an action work in the game? I see that you use action points but how do they work?

-          Each individual miniature in the game is called a Unit.  Each Unit has a set number of AP or Activation Points it can do in each round of play.  This allows the player to tailor their Units’ activations and creates a more tactical style of play.  Also each player alternates activating their Unit’s or squads going back and forth which definitely makes for a fast fun game that you the player have total control over.

8. A malfunction, that is an interesting concept…can you explain how that work in the game and can it be a game changer in terms of winning a game?

- Because most technology is now considered ancient the upkeep and secrets thereof has been lost to the ages.  Guns are prevalent, but are not reliable.  Weapons are often kit bashed or not kept up at all and can be just as dangerous to the attacks as it is to their target. Most weapons have a MAL number, if the player rolls that number or higher they shoot themselves in the foot or club themselves in their ankle.

9. Cowardice…is something I find very interesting. What happens if a unit finds it’s self fleeing and it comes near one of its own units?

-           Cowardice Will Not Be Tolerated, if a Unit is panicked it will run in a random direction.  They automatically break away from combat and run their full AP in the direction as indicated by the top of a D20.  If they cross the base of any Unit, friendly or enemy the Unit they moved through gets a free attack on the caowardly unit.

10. And last but not least what size game board it required to play the game?

-  4’x4’ table is fine for most games of DA.
